Nouloo Terms of Service

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

We care about your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. It is written for our UK users under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

About this policy

This is the privacy policy for Nouloo, an app designed to help immigrants connect, share, and belong. It explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We want you to feel confident and informed every time you use our platform.

The data controller responsible for your information is Innocent Abdullahi (operating Nouloo). If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us through Help & Support in the app or at [email protected].

Nouloo is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 16.

Information we collect

When you sign up to use Nouloo, we collect basic details like your name, email address, nationality, and country of residence. You can also choose to share additional information such as your gender, city, a profile photo, or short bio. These details help us match you with relevant groups, content, and people nearby. Sharing more information is entirely optional and is used only to enhance your experience.

We also collect information about your activity within the app, including posts you make, polls you vote on, replies you send, messages you send in chat, and the groups you join. This helps us personalize your feed, suggest content, keep your account secure, and continuously improve the app.

We collect a limited amount of technical information needed to run the service, for example a device push-notification token (only if you allow notifications) and basic diagnostic data if something goes wrong.

How we use your information, and our legal bases

We use your information to operate and improve the app, personalize your experience, suggest groups and content, keep the community safe, and communicate with you about updates or support.

In plain terms, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running your account and showing your content); our legitimate interests (keeping the app secure, preventing abuse, and improving it); your consent where we ask for it (for example, push notifications and optional analytics, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings); and legal obligation where the law requires us to act (for example, responding to valid safety or legal requests).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited information with trusted service providers who help us run the app, each under a data-processing agreement and confidentiality obligations. These include: our authentication provider (for sign-in and account security), our cloud hosting and media storage provider, our push-notification provider, and providers that give us anonymous product analytics and error monitoring so we can find and fix problems.

To help organise content into topics, the text of a post (its title and content only, never your name, email, or account identifiers) is sent to an AI classification provider. This is used only to categorise posts and is not used to identify you.

We may also share information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect the safety of our users.

Sending data outside the UK

Some of our service providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. When your information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), so that your data continues to receive an equivalent level of protection.

Analytics and your choice

We use privacy-conscious product analytics and error monitoring to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. We do not attach your name, email, or IP address to this data.

This is optional. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Preferences → Privacy → “Share usage data”. When it is off, we stop collecting usage analytics and error reports from your device.

How long we keep it

We keep the content and information tied to your account (your profile, posts, comments, messages, media, and settings) for as long as your account is active, because we need it to provide the service. When you delete your account, we erase or anonymise this information.

Some data is kept for a shorter time: usage/engagement analytics are kept on a rolling basis and then removed; data-export archives you request are automatically deleted a short time after they are ready; and incomplete sign-ups are cleared after a few days. We keep some records longer only where we need them for safety or where the law requires it.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

You can exercise these directly in the app: update your profile in Settings; download a copy of your data from Settings → Your data; delete your account from Settings; and control notifications and analytics in Settings → Preferences. For anything else, contact us through Help & Support or at [email protected].

Young people

Nouloo is built for users aged 16 and over, and we design with young people’s privacy in mind. For example, we do not automatically push engagement notifications to younger users by default. If you believe someone under 16 has an account, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

How to complain

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
